Kamillah Hanks Campaign Payment Scandal Heating Up
Several Media Outlets Pick Up Story About "Deadbeat" NYC Councilmember
Richard Luthmann, a former lawyer and writer for Frank Report, has filed a lawsuit against Kamillah Hanks, a New York City Councilmember, and her live-in boyfriend for alleged failure to pay him for legal work and campaign expenses. The lawsuit claims that Luthmann was not paid for campaign work in 2017 by Hanks and her partner Kevin Barry Love.
Luthmann claims he is owed over $86,000 in fees for Hanks’ 2017 campaign for NYC Council against incumbent Debi Rose, who won the election. Hanks won the election to the seat after Rose reached term limits in 2021, forcing her to vacate the seat.
Several media outlets have picked up the story that first broke in the New York Post, which never called Luthmann for comment. Luthmann now wants to be paid. He told Frank Report:
“Kevin and Kamillah are running around Staten Island, telling anyone who will listen that they have ‘enemies’ out to ‘destroy’ them. Their enemies are their two big mouths. The evidence I plan to show reveals these two are deadbeats who took advantage of my legal difficulties to avoid their proper obligations.”
The story was picked up by Western New York-based Art Voice, with a nationwide digital readership:

Frank Report, an investigative journalism outlet with a national audience, also picked up the story:
NYC Councilwoman Hanks Alleged to Stiff Lawyer Who Sued to Let Daughter Graduate
Frank Report is in the process of investigating this story. The outlet left messages with Hanks and Love and received no response as of press time.
Love called Luthmann’s allegations a “vulgar lie” and said that there was not a single piece of evidence other than the rantings of a mentally ill man.
Luthmann, however, produced emails in his court filing to support his claim that he did extensive work for Hanks.
When word of Luthmann’s legal problems broke in 2017, Hanks tried to distance herself from Luthmann. Hanks’ campaign spokesperson Jennifer Blatus said, “Richard Luthmann was hired solely for the petitioning process and is not employed by this campaign.” Luthmann’s evidence shows that statement to be a lie.
Luthmann calls Hanks and Love “deadbeats” because they also stiffed him when he convinced a judge to allow Hanks’ daughter Nadia to walk with all her classmates at her graduation ceremony from LaGuardia High School in 2017.
See Teen gets judge’s order to walk in HS graduation; suit alleges teacher ‘maliciously’ failed her.
“What kind of dirtbags ask a lawyer who is supposed to be their friend to save their daughter from humiliation and then stiff him?” Luthmann said.
In addition to the New York State Supreme Court filing, Luthmann filed a formal complaint with the New York City Campaign Finance Board last week.
NOVEMBER IS COMING
November is Coming. Who will survive?
Probably not these deadbeats.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Is there more? Of course, there is more.
Remember, Mr. Luthmann is now a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN. He is also a writer, commentator, satirist, investigative journalist, and a proud member of the National Writers Union.
There will be many more Enemies to receive their comeuppance. What new Enemies will show their faces and then be shown the Luthmann Inquisition followed by the legal and political Death Chamber? Which members of the Swamp should be worried? What other persons may become collateral damage in this story? And who exactly is on “THE LIST” Luthmann spent the past four years making?
Stay tuned—much more to come.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant. We can shine a light on Pirates and Scallywags and watch the cockroaches scurry in every direction. Also, drop me a line if you are a victim of The Swamp of corrupt politicians, lawyers, judges, or corrupt courts. We are especially looking for stories about the Staten Island Swamp. Corrupt lawyers, judges, and government officials are all within bounds. Let us know.

The press plays a crucial role in providing citizens with access to information about what is happening in government and shining a light on corruption, abuse of power, and other forms of wrongdoing. The news media is a critical check on the powerful, serving as a watchdog to hold elected officials and other public figures accountable for their actions. The media was first called the fourth estate in 1821 by Edmund Burke, who wanted to point out the power of the press.
