Andrew Cuomo’s climb to power is paved with the political corpses of Black men.
In 2002, it was Carl McCall. In 2010, it was David Paterson. Now, in 2025, it’s Eric Adams.
Each time, Cuomo played dirty.
Each time, the Democratic Party looked the other way—or worse, helped him do it.

Carl McCall was the first Black candidate to win statewide office in New York. In 2002, he ran for governor.
Cuomo, a 44-year-old political legacy with no electoral experience, jumped into the race and promptly kneecapped McCall’s campaign.
It was so vicious that Black leaders still remember it like yesterday.
“I will never forget the McCall-Cuomo race. Never,” said Bertha Lewis, head of the Black Institute. “It was nasty, it was dirty, and it was wholly uncalled-for”.
Even after Cuomo dropped out under pressure, the damage was done. McCall lost badly to Republican George Pataki.
Why?
Because all that Upper East Side white liberal money vanished when Cuomo left the race. McCall had no chance once Prince Andrew had packed up his toys.

Eight years later, Cuomo did it again.
In 2010, Governor David Paterson—New York’s first Black governor—was gearing up for a full term after replacing Eliot Spitzer.
But Democratic insiders wanted Cuomo. So they cooked up an ethics scandal.
First, headlines accused Paterson of accepting “free Yankees tickets.” Then came murky abuse allegations involving a Paterson aide.
The bombshell? Cuomo—then-attorney general—was the one investigating him.
Paterson saw the writing on the wall and dropped out.
With the path cleared, Cuomo glided into the Governor’s Mansion. No primary. No real challenge.
Another Black leader was shoved aside for Andrew Cuomo’s ambition.

Now it’s happening again.
New York City’s second Black mayor, Eric Adams, is fighting for reelection. But he’s not running as a Democrat.
Why?
Because the Democratic Party shut him out.
The city’s Campaign Finance Board denied Adams nearly $4.5 million in matching funds—based on phantom claims over a supposed straw donor scheme.
Smoke and whispers.
The Board, stacked with Democrat loyalists, didn’t even pretend to assess the case fairly. One report noted, “The board appeared more interested in shielding itself than weighing facts.”
The beneficiary? Once again, Andrew Cuomo.
The former governor is eyeing a political comeback—this time as mayor of New York. The same elite white liberal machine that abandoned McCall and sabotaged Paterson is lining up behind Cuomo.
Adams may have foxes in his own hen house.

The Democratic Party claims to be the party of racial justice. But in New York, that’s a lie. When it comes time to pick sides, they always choose their favorite white boy.
Even Carl McCall, once the victim, has reportedly thrown in with Cuomo in 2025. Bertha Lewis and David Paterson see the betrayal clearly. So does Adams.
Adams called Paterson and told him he was “all in” on the campaign and “hopes Andrew is ready for a tough campaign because he is.”
The relationship between Adams and Black political elites is fraying. But working-class Black voters still support Adams. And they’re the key to exposing Cuomo’s past—and shaming the so-called “leaders” now cozying up to him.
If Black voters stay with Cuomo in 2025, they forfeit the right to complain about racism in New York politics. They accept their seat on the Cuomo porch with no expectation of ever being let in the house.
RACISM BY ANY OTHER NAME
Andrew Cuomo won’t say he’s racist. But his record screams it.
He sabotaged Carl McCall in 2002. He buried David Paterson in 2010. He’s kneecapping Eric Adams in 2025.
Each time, a Black man stood in his way. Each time, Cuomo used the system to take him out.
There’s a pattern. There’s a motive. And there’s never been an apology.
The Democratic Party helped him every time. Whether by silence, complicity, or direct action, they always side with Cuomo.
The same party that demands racial justice when it suits them turns blind when Cuomo goes after another Black man.
In 2025, Black voters will have a chance to say no. To call it what it is: racism. To call Cuomo what he is: a predator who uses political power to destroy Black leaders and advance his own career.
Cuomo can’t run from that past. And unless he explains it—McCall, Paterson, Adams—Black New Yorkers should presume the worst.
Because racism doesn’t always wear a hood. Sometimes, it wears a bespoke suit, carries a smug smirk, and calls itself Andrew Cuomo.
