Some Say the Employee Personnel Room's Conditions Are Worse Than Prison

The personnel rooms at the NYU Langone Hospital Manhattan campus are being compared to those of a solitary confinement cell in a correctional facility.

Is it NYU Langone Correctional Facility or is this NYU Langone Hospital ??

We were contacted about the NYU Emergency Medical Services Department Personnel Room, which is used for personnel changing areas. The department has 250 Emergency Medical Technicians and roughly 150 Paramedics. It is divided into three campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The NYU Manhattan personnel room has caused many to complain and raise eyebrows. The personnel room is smaller than a correctional facility solitary confinement cell. As we are told, there is no running water, lockers, areas to change clothes or restrooms. So, what does this sound like to you???? NYU CORRECTIONAL??

This room is housed by 6 Emergency Medical Technician Ambulances and 6 Paramedic Ambulances, all working 12-hour shifts. So, 24 employees must operate out of a 5x5 unsanitary, hazardous staff room. We understand that the Department Administration has been aware of this for some time, and nothing has improved. How about if they get an intense call and must wash their faces, eyes, etc.? They can't because there are no washing stations.

We were told of one incident where an on-duty female employee had a medical emergency. As we know, there is no proper place for her to go to tend to her needs. So she tried to go to the Hospital restroom, where she was denied access by Hospital Security. Let’s keep in mind that she was on duty in uniform while she was denied access to the hospital restroom.

How are these emergency service workers out there in the biggest city in the world saving lives 12 hours a day, and they cannot have room to be able to change their clothing or to get a breath of fresh air? We look at this and say wow this is horrible for them but how about we send our loved ones there or our loved ones are in these ambulances, is it a Hazard ?? or an unsanitary space?, or both??

Is this NYU Langone Hospital or NYU Langone Correctional Facility???????

Some think NYU Langone Hospital is in the prison business because of the conditions in employee rooms.
