Colorado Family Courts Face Explosive Corruption Allegations
Rabbi’s Court Battle Reveals Alleged Judicial Misconduct at the Highest Levels
By Richard Luthmann
A father’s four-year struggle against Colorado’s judiciary has erupted into a full-scale fight over judicial integrity. Rabbi Jacob Bellinsky, a father of eight, has filed explosive allegations detailing a disturbing pattern of corruption in the state’s family court system.
Bellinsky’s case, now at the center of two high-stakes federal appeals, accuses judges, prosecutors, and state officials of conspiring to sever his bond with his children while blocking every attempt at justice.
"For four years, I have been unlawfully separated from all contact with my minor children through coordinated abuse of judicial power," Bellinsky declared in a December 8 press release. "Despite extensive documentation of constitutional violations, both state and federal courts have systematically worked to prevent any meaningful review of this unconscionable separation of a loving father from his children.”
A Father’s Fight Against the System
Bellinsky’s ordeal began in 2019 with a custody dispute in Colorado’s First Judicial District. The case, initially over post-divorce arrangements, spiraled into what Bellinsky calls a “state-sanctioned kidnapping.”
According to court filings, his ex-wife, Rachel Zinna Galán, her husband, Steven Lazar, and their attorney, Andrew Hart, manipulated the system to strip him of custody. He alleges they orchestrated "fraudulent court orders under the guise of family law," culminating in the "illegal removal of his children from his care."
Bellinsky accuses Hart of masterminding a scheme to destroy his family by leveraging false accusations and exploiting judicial allies. His appeals describe how a single text message to his daughter—“Have [daughter] call me”—led to a criminal charge for violating a restraining order.
That charge, which Bellinsky insists was baseless, resulted in his arrest, a trial riddled with irregularities, and a conviction he claims was manufactured.
Judicial Misconduct Allegations
The allegations reach the highest levels of Colorado’s judiciary. Bellinsky’s federal lawsuits name dozens of officials, including judges from the First and Eighteenth Judicial Districts and former Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Brian Boatright.
Bellinsky’s filings accuse them of systematic misconduct, ignoring mandatory disqualification rules, and manipulating legal doctrines to shield their actions from scrutiny.
A press release accompanying Bellinsky’s December 8 filings claims the courts have engaged in a "coordinated abuse of judicial power" to obstruct justice.
"First, Colorado's state courts were closed through coordinated misconduct, and now the federal courts have similarly shut their doors through procedural manipulation," Bellinsky stated.
State and Federal Courts Colluding?
The allegations include accusations that state and federal courts worked together to block Bellinsky’s legal challenges. At the heart of the controversy are two federal lawsuits dismissed under doctrines Bellinsky argues were misapplied.
One case, labeled the “Relocation Crime Spree,” accuses Galán, Lazar, and Hart of conspiring to relocate the children illegally.
The second, called the “False Criminalization Crime Spree,” focuses on Bellinsky’s criminal charges for alleged restraining order violations.
Both cases were dismissed without addressing the substantive claims of rights violations.
"The courts invented legal barriers to protect officials from accountability, leaving my constitutional claims unheard," Bellinsky asserted.
Unanswered Complaints and a Federal Grand Jury Petition
Bellinsky has filed seven judicial complaints since July 2024, targeting judges who presided over his cases and accusing them of procedural manipulation and conflicts of interest. He says none of the complaints have been addressed despite "dozens of follow-up attempts over the past 20 weeks."
Among his most shocking allegations is the claim that courts ignored federal laws requiring judges to report evidence of felony conduct to federal authorities.
In February 2024, Bellinsky filed a petition for a federal grand jury investigation into what he described as “extensive criminal conduct” by judges and other officials. He alleges that the courts have done nothing to advance or even acknowledge the petition.
Human Toll: A Father’s Devastation
The personal cost of these alleged abuses is staggering. Bellinsky described the agony of missing his daughter’s wedding in September, a milestone he says the courts denied him by refusing to rule on emergency motions.
"Every day of continued separation represents irreparable harm to both parent and children that no future court ruling can ever restore," he said.
Bellinsky's children, who have been isolated from him since 2019, have endured critical developmental years without their father.
"When courts can enforce the unlawful separation of children from a loving parent while actively preventing constitutional review, it threatens every family's fundamental rights," Bellinsky warned.
Alleged RICO Violations: Corruption at Every Level
The scope of Bellinsky’s allegations extends beyond individual cases. His filings portray a judicial system rife with corruption, reaching the level of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) violations.
He accuses the judiciary of systematically burying complaints, retaliating against whistleblowers, and abusing public funds to conceal misconduct.
The 330-page whistleblower complaint Bellinsky filed with the FBI in October outlines a vast conspiracy involving the Attorney General's Office, state supreme court justices, and local judges. The complaint alleges misuse of taxpayer dollars to fund retaliation efforts and procedural schemes to block accountability.
A Call for Accountability
Bellinsky’s legal fight is far from over. In addition to his federal appeals, he has cases pending in the Colorado Supreme Court, including an Extraordinary Habeas Corpus appeal. However, delays in those cases have left Bellinsky fearing he may never see justice.
"The Colorado Supreme Court clerk's office indicated it could take 4-6 months just to review my petition for a writ of certiorari," he said. "Meanwhile, my children remain out of reach, and my rights remain violated."

The Stakes for Families Nationwide
Bellinsky insists his case concerns not just his family but the justice system's integrity.
"This unprecedented coordination between state and federal courts to prevent any review of constitutional violations raises fundamental questions about the integrity of our entire justice system," he said.
He adds that his story serves as a cautionary tale for families everywhere. As Bellinsky prepares for the next phase of his legal battle, his case continues to expose the vulnerabilities in Colorado’s judicial system. Whether he succeeds or not, the spotlight his case has brought to family court corruption may lead to lasting change—or further erode public trust in the judiciary.
