Dear Mr. Luthmann,

Thank you for shedding light on the grave issues within New Jersey’s family court system, as detailed in "Family Court's Star Chamber: Gagged by the Bench." Dr. Bandy X. Lee’s insights into the suppression of First Amendment rights within these courts echo the experiences of many families who’ve faced unjust silencing and retaliation.

As you correctly point out, the family court system too often prioritizes secrecy over justice, leaving families in the dark and unable to speak out. This cannot continue. I believe it is time for a united response through the filing of an amicus brief in the appellate courts to challenge the unconstitutional practices that undermine both due process and free speech. Together, we can push back against this pervasive system, starting at the state level and eventually seeking remedies through federal channels, should that become necessary.

If we come together advocates, families, and legal experts we can force change. By filing this amicus brief and amplifying our voices, we can demand that the family courts finally uphold the First Amendment and ensure that all parties involved are treated with transparency and fairness.

We must act, and we must act now.

Sincerely,

Renee Kitani

I'm reminded of that old wisdom that says the situation we are in cannot be solved by the same minds that got you into it. I'm not sure the legal minds that operate the legal process can fathom being flawed or - God forbid - wrong. They want no due process and no equal justice under the law. Most of us can not afford to fight for years in a legal system that wants to break you.

The big reveal is on the political pressure that needs to happen. But will anyone listen? I doubt they will. Something has to change but fighting on their terms has been slow and largely shoveling water against the tide. I think there needs to be a tsunami of pressure on our elected officials and Federal pressure from the DOJ to start investigate the usurpations of our rights. i like the idea of non-lawyer advisory boards of previous state court losers that investigate frequently errant Judges. I doubt anyone will listen until there is critical mass of enough people broken by the system...Of course none of children wanting to start families or even get married because of all the anticipated unfair bias in the family courts and the experience of their mothers and fathers. Its a mess.

I think the judicial system believes they can do whatever they want because the statute of limitations truly protects Judges and Lawyers from their true victims - the children. 30 years go by without the Children figuring out who really screwed them over. Although, we are seeing it play out now, Millennials and Gen Z are not having children. It's probably some state court loser's fault, I'm sure.

I wish I could get people here in Pennsylvania to listen to me on my case have a lawyer side tracking things to drag it out and hide the truth they will openly talk about other clients cases with details in front of me and openly with custody master along with custody master will openly talk about other cases instead of the case there supossed to be on this has happened 4 different times in front of me state representative won't listen I spoke. To other lawyers about ethics and am left feeling one lawyer just covering for the other this type of stuff needs to come out in the open

I commend Dr. Lee for having the courage to fight back. Too often, parents find themselves in situations where their past or circumstances related to the harm they’ve suffered are used against them in court. Family courts frequently turn a blind eye to abuse and seem indifferent to its impact. Even if you’re a law-abiding citizen leading the most ordinary life, they will find—or manufacture—reasons to justify their predetermined decisions. These judges are not gods, kings, or queens, yet some act as if they are. Some are deeply flawed individuals motivated by personal gain rather than justice. To be fair, not all judges are corrupt—I have encountered good ones, even during my own nightmare case.

New Jersey Superior Courts are particularly problematic, as are any courts that engage in similar misconduct. They deliberately complicate straightforward matters when they need to execute wrongful actions that intentionally inflict harm and create chaos. We’re witnessing this same pattern with Democrats in Los Angeles, with Cory Booker leading the charge.
