Trump’s Christmas Truth: A Holiday Trolling or Strategic Masterstroke?

Luthmann rips into Scott Dworkin, defends Trump’s geopolitical trolling as both humor and hard-nosed diplomacy.

By Richard Luthmann

As Christmas trees twinkled, Donald Trump lit up social media with one of his most audacious “Truths” yet, blending holiday cheer with a sharp rebuke of international politics. His sprawling post on TruthSocial touched on the Panama Canal, Canada, and Greenland, delivering a mix of humor and serious messaging.

WOKE Democrat Operative Scott Dworkin smacks of a modern-day Bolshevik.

Naturally, this triggered the usual outrage from Trump’s critics. One of them is “Snowflake” Scott Dworkin, a WOKE Democrat operative who called Trump’s comments “absurd lies” and accused the media of cleaning up his mess.

On The Unknown Podcast, I joined journalist Michael Volpe to unpack Trump’s latest salvo. Unlike Dworkin, I see the post as classic Trump—trolling with a purpose.

Trolling Trudeau and Dworkin’s Outrage

Dworkin’s Substack post titled This is Why It’s Impossible to Trust Corporate Media doubled down on his disdain for Trump, calling his Christmas musings “Candy Land nonsense” and accusing outlets like The Washington Post of legitimizing Trump’s “lies.” Dworkin wrote:

This week, Trump tried to use Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal to distract us from his horrible cabinet picks—plus the fact Elon is actually the one in charge.

In the process, Donald reminded us how clueless he is on foreign policy, offended our allies, and embarrassed America on the world stage. So of course corporate media is hard at work, attempting to clean up this whole mess for Trump.

CNN, NY Times, Reuters, BBC, AP and others ran headlines legitimizing his absurd lies. But the worst, by far, came from The Washington Post, who ran this story just yesterday: “Trump team says Canada, Greenland, Panama comments are part of a broader plan.”

This is a sad attempt to explain away Trump’s unhinged behavior. They’re painting a picture that Trump is playing 3D chess, when in reality he’s playing Candy Land while eating the game pieces.

Dworkin’s melodramatic handwringing, however, misses the point entirely.

“Every chance he gets, Trump takes a swipe at Justin Trudeau,” I noted on the podcast. And why shouldn’t he? Trudeau should live up to the high expectations. After all, he is a political legacy. We’re just not sure whether he’s Pierre’s or Fidel’s.

The tongue-in-cheek suggestion in another Christmas Truth that Wayne Gretzky should run for Prime Minister—or, as Trump put it, “Governor of Canada”—was a playful jab at Canada’s famously liberal leader. And even Justin Trudeau knows that Wayne Gretzky is more popular than moose and maple syrup in the Great White North.

Dworkin, in his zeal to paint Trump as clueless, failed to appreciate the humor.

Panama and the CCP’s Grip

Trump’s commentary on the Panama Canal was anything but frivolous.

“The Chinese Communist Party now controls the canal de facto,” I explained.

Under Biden, U.S. influence in Latin America has waned, allowing China to edge into what was always America’s backyard. Trump’s message was clear: the U.S. must reclaim leadership in its own hemisphere.

“Trump is rattling the saber to let Beijing know this is our hemisphere,” I argued. “Get the hell out.”

Dworkin dismissed this as another “absurd lie,” but he’s blind to the reality of China’s growing dominance in global trade routes. While he writes off Trump’s statement as mere bluster, those in the know recognize it as a warning shot aimed squarely at Beijing and a reclamation of the Monroe Doctrine.

Greenland: A Geostrategic Chess Move

Trump’s reference to Greenland, a key asset in Arctic strategy, was equally deliberate. While the media mocked his earlier interest in purchasing Greenland, his Christmas Truth highlighted its significance in countering Russia’s territorial ambitions.

Czar Vladimir

“Putin thinks he’s the heir to the Romanovs,” I said, highlighting Russia’s ambitions to expand its influence. “Greenland is a strategic point for controlling the Arctic.”

Trump’s critics, including Dworkin, laughed at the idea of America expanding its Arctic footprint. Yet, their shortsightedness ignores the increasing militarization of the region by both Russia and China.

Dworkin doesn’t understand that geopolitics isn’t Candyland. It’s a game of chess, and Trump knows the board.

Media’s Role in the Narrative War

Dworkin’s real target wasn’t just Trump but the media outlets he claims enable him. He blasted The Washington Post for presenting Trump’s Christmas Truth as part of a broader strategic vision, calling the article a “sad attempt to explain away unhinged behavior.”

But Dworkin’s argument falls apart under scrutiny. The mainstream media isn’t cleaning up for Trump—they’re working overtime to hinder him. The portrayal of Trump as a clueless rogue ignores his ability to dominate the narrative and frame issues on his terms.

This relentless media bias is why platforms like The Unknown Podcast are critical.

Why Trump’s Truth Matters

At its core, Trump’s Christmas post encapsulated his dual strategy: entertaining his base while sending strategic messages to adversaries. Whether trolling Trudeau, warning China, or calling out Biden’s controversial pardons, Trump’s unfiltered style resonates with millions precisely because it’s unpolished and unapologetic.

For critics like Dworkin, who rely on partisan rhetoric and hyperbole, Trump’s authenticity is a threat. But for the rest of us, it’s a reminder that politics can be both serious and a bit of fun.

TRUMP: The Art of the Checkmate

When was the last time Vladimir Putin apologized for anything or signaled a willingness to “sit down” and end the Ukraine War? Since Christmas, he’s publicly done both.

Trump’s done this all on his own. Dworkin's insinuation that the Mainstream Media is out to do anything but hinder, obstruct, and destroy Trump, MAGA, and the America First Agenda is laughable.

In reality, Dworkin is trying to create his own "Alt-Left" to counter the successful Alt-Right media. But we've seen this movie before. It's called Air America. Not the Mel Gibson movie, but the failed leftist radio venture where Al Franken played the part of Leslie Neilsen.

AIR AMERICA 2: Starring Scotty Dworkin as “Little Joey.”

Maybe Dworkin is already slated to play the role of “Little Joey” in this doomed re-boot. He simultaneously proves that he knows little about geopolitics and even less about alternative media.

So, to Dworkin and his ilk: give it a rest. The non-WOKE are enjoying the show—and maybe learning a thing or two about geopolitics along the way. Maybe you should stick with Candyland.
